Wence M. J. Martin Esq is a seasoned compliance risk and legal professional with over 20 years of experience both in The Bahamas and abroad. He serves as the general counsel in a wealth in private bank and asset management group. Additionally, he served as an adjunct professor in the law faculty at the University of The Bahamas, and currently lectures on Artificial Intelligence and Financial Services at the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services. Mr. Martin is a member of several professional organizations, including the Bahamas Bar Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers (BACO).

Beyond his professional career, Mr. Martin is deeply committed to community service. He has served on the Board of Directors for Civil Society Bahamas and chaired its Governance & National Affairs Committee. Within Toastmasters International District 47, he previously held the roles of club president, division director and district parliamentarian. Mr. Martin is a past executive officer, and a director on the Board of Directors of The Bahamas Alzheimer’s Association.

Mr. Martin commenced undergraduate studies in Teacher Education at the then College of The Bahamas majoring in Business and Economics. He has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London (UK), a Certificate of Legal Education from Eugene Dupuch Law School, a Master’s degree from Oxford Brookes University. Mr. Martin has also studied digital law, AI and technology at Lyon Catholic University, France. He holds numerous graduate level certificates in Artificial Intelligence, AML Compliance, International Taxation, International Trust Management, and International Relations/Diplomacy from various institutions worldwide including Oxford University, Harvard University and MIT. His topics of interest include artificial intelligence ethics, constitutional reform, and international economics.
